Chronic Pain Education

Chronic Pain Education

The therapists at Kamloops Physiotherapy have extensive knowledge and education about the management of chronic pain. John Howick has had extensive education about the physiology of chronic pain and central sensitization and acts as a resource for the other staff members.

Treatment for chronic pain may include education in the use of coping strategies, relaxation exercises, pacing and increasing your knowledge of the physical processes involved in the development and maintenance of chronic pain.

Some of our therapists have completed training in the Progressive Goal Attainment Program (PGAP) which is a scientifically proven cognitive behavioural program to help to restore ability to people who are experiencing chronic pain.

Kamloops Physiotherapy is pleased to have the book "Explain Pain" availabe for purchase by patients. This book may be beneficial for clients who would benefit from a greater understanding of the neurophysiology of pain.
